Bronchial Pneumonia

Been sick for over week. Finally (despite advice from 'A' and several friends) I went to the doctor.

I've got the early stages of bronchial pneumonia. A couple of chest x-rays, breath test, strep test, two taxi trips, a trip to Eckerd and $180 later, I'm on an anti-biotic, an inhaler and Sudafed for congestion.

On the plus side, the treatment is straight forward and apparently very effective, but it might take until the weekend before I feel better. Washington's 90% humidity isn't helping.

Sorry to hear you're so sick, Samer. I hope all the medicine works ASAP.

I'm recovering from bronchial pneumonia, was in the hospital for 3 weeks and in ICU for 10 days due to acute respiratory failure. Now I'm home, recovering, and am being told that it will take "some time" for me to get better. Months. I hate being on oxygen 24/7 and taking so many medications, breathing treatments, bed rest 3/4 of the time. Then I'm told I've got COPD because I've had chronic bronchtis since my first bought of pneumonia at age 3 years. Anyone out there who has had pneumolnia this bad?

I was just doing some research on pneumonia, and stumbled across this page. A friend of mine just lost her 2 year old son to bronchial pneumonia on Apr. 3, 2005.
